[Days 39 & 40]

Getting out of here is going to take longer than I thought, so it'll be best to keep a log of what's going on. I woke up here in the afternoon, yesterday. I don't know the exact date, but it was apparently Wednesday.

The nurse took me out to lunch (apparently I 'slept in') and I met Brooklyn, who was cool enough to explain some things to me, including some of what's going on here and about the bulletin board. I decided to leave a note for some friends who might be here.

From there most of us went to the music room, where I met a guy named Takaya. I think he was more helpful than he realised.

Dinner happens in our rooms, with roommates. Mine is Touya Kinomoto. Nice guy, if a little tired all the time. He seems to know about as much as I do about the institute. His friend was pretty interesting too.

I'd been warned about the nights here, but I ran into someone I hadn't been expecting too. Things got out of hand pretty fast, but the night ended before we managed to solve our problems.

Thursday

Over breakfast today I spoke with Zex, which was... interesting for both of us. He said something about a ghost being here. I wonder if the staff know about that idea. Mental institutes and hospitals do get a rep for hauntings though.

After that I got to talking with a girl named Daphne in the sun room. Not much to say about that, other than that she was good company and we had a bit in common. It might be worth meeting up again some time.

Over lunch I met Ritsuka, who told me why we have radios in our rooms and which stations play the best music. We also talked a bit about where he was from, and some of other people he knew. The radio part was the coolest bit though, I might be able to rig it up to get some stations I really like.

I promised I'd meet someone from the History Club in the greenhouse (yeah, I know, but being locked up isn't an excuse to lose grades), which went better than I thought. I think it might be worth meeting up again some time with Okita, just to check over some more things.

Hopefully this post will help clear up any questions or issues with Jaime's abilities. I'm aware that his powers can all too easily turn godmod-y, so if you have any problems at all, I'm more than happy to talk it over with you.

Personality

Key to Jaime’s personality and his interactions with the Scarab is his sense of responsibility. His parents raised him to always try and be responsible for his actions and to try and do the right thing, and this is something that has obviously affected him deeply. When Jaime returned from his year-long absence, this is what motivated him to tell the truth about what happened to his family and friends and to let them in on the secret of the Scarab and the powers it had granted him. Though as evidenced by their initial reaction, he might have put more thought into breaking it to them gently, in the long run this proved to be the right decision to make.
